Night Work
"In cultivating your mind you must know how to search in the depths." — Lao Tze
A very powerful system of practices for self-knowledge and healing that proposes taking life as the true master. It is a weekly one-hour meditation class in which we share several kinds of practices, designed to bring the practitioner into a natural state of consciousness that produces a particular sensitivity: energy, body and mind are perceived as one unity.
Within this state, which we call the primary nocturnal state, we investigate various attitudes that help you know yourself more deeply and bring harmony to different areas of your life — especially in relation to the unseen parts of the being: the subconscious, instinct and intuition.
First stage: learning to distinguish the different states of consciousness and to enter the nocturnal trance. In this state it is possible to investigate the past and the present, discovering the natural potential each person holds.
Second stage: a process of strengthening the energy begins, in which creative capacity noticeably increases, which you learn to use within the practice and to carry into any area of life.
Night Work is a branch co-created by Gabriel Nieto together with his master Cai Wen Yu, the fruit of years of research shared also with master Li Fu Kuan — a path that included, in Nanyue, the encounter with a master who practiced night work. It takes the whole being as a unity, working in depth on its emotional, psychic, physical and spiritual facets. That is why it is not a generic method of general answers: it is a system that draws out the right answers for each person.
Night Work investigates what appears when habitual control loosens: sleep, intimacy, deep perception, the collective body and the relationship between consciousness and nature.
It is a complete system of somatic, perceptual and communal cultivation. Among its practices: nocturnal zhan zhuang, universal breathing, the wheel of time, the sleeping monk, the work with elixir, the talismans of sounds and movements, the daily exercise of the anchor, collective rituals and the investigation of sleep, wakefulness and hypnagogic states. One of its axes: human regulation is not only individual — it also happens through relationship, the presence of others and the experience of community.
